Chiefs have moved down to 10th on the log after winning only one match since the league’s resumption after the Africa Cup of Nations break. Amakhosi have had Johnson as an interim coach since October following the decision to part ways with Molefi Ntseki who started the season as the club’s head coach.

Following a promising start under Johnson, the results have been disappointing for the team, with their latest being the 1-0 loss to struggling Richards Bay FC this past weekend. In his most recent role, Amrouche had been with the national team of Tanzania in the Afcon in Ivory Coast.

The 56-year-old tactician is understood to have an interest in joining the Soweto giants, according to sources. “Kaizer Chiefs need a coach who knows how to communicate and someone with a strong personality.

The club needs someone who should be of good use when it comes to helping the players psychologically. If one has to talk about the qualifications and experience, then Adel Amrouche should be one of the candidates,” said the source.

In his next role, the coach is keen on club football where he will be able to be active every day as opposed to the national team. He believes he can get Chiefs back to Champions League football and not just fighting for the top eight.

He knows about the importance of making the supporters happy. He is someone who is results-driven and he likes playing good football.

If he can get the opportunity at Chiefs, he will do his level best to make the supporters and the club happy. For him, it’s all about the supporters first, as well as the club.

The coach is currently in Qatar and will be going back to Tanzania soon to sort out some issues,” the source added. Meanwhile, Amrouche said the following to Soccer Laduma regarding his interest in Chiefs.

“I have a masters in sports psychology plus a UEFA Pro Licence and I also did an instructor’s course. I have experience in coaching in Africa, and I have coached seven national teams.
