Monnapule Saleng, a prominent South African footballer, has fallen down the pecking order at Orlando Pirates after making waves in the previous season. Sources suggest that Saleng needs more game time to regain his form and make a comeback to the Bafana Bafana squad. In order to achieve this, the Pirates are considering sending Saleng out on loan until the end of the season. The team is currently exploring potential options and waiting for a finalized move.

Speculations regarding Saleng’s future are divided. While some sources believe that he still has a contract with the club which expires in 2025, indicating that he could contribute at a high level in the future, others argue that a loan move would be beneficial for him. The technical team at Orlando Pirates sees the loan move as an opportunity for Saleng to regain his form and potentially compete for a starting position upon his return.

In the current season, Saleng has only scored once in 11 DStv Premiership league games, whereas he scored 11 times in 22 league games in the previous season. The Pirates signed Saleng in 2021 from Free State Stars on a four-year contract. His loan spell at Swallows FC in the past had proven to be successful for him.
