The head coach of Richards Bay FC, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, expressed his dissatisfaction with the change in the schedule for the DStv Premiership match between Richards Bay and Moroka Swallows at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa on April 06, 2024. The fixture was initially set to take place this weekend, but due to the Nedbank Cup quarter-final schedule, the league moved the PSL game to the following weekend.
In response to the schedule change, Vilakazi mentioned his preference to play against Chiefs sooner, expressing that it would have been advantageous to face them while they were still struggling. Additionally, in anticipation of Chiefs’ visit to the KwaZulu-Natal province, the Natal Rich Boys have organized a friendly match to maintain their preparation.
Meanwhile, Chiefs, under the interim coach Cavin Johnson, have faced consecutive defeats and are likely out of contention for a Caf qualification spot. On the other hand, Richards Bay, in a relegation battle, enhanced their chances with a 1-0 victory over Moroka Swallows last Saturday.
To make up for the postponed fixture, Vilakazi emphasized the importance of securing a competitive friendly game to ensure their preparation remains on track. This move aims to offset the absence of a league match due to the schedule change.
