The first half was slow for United. However, they managed to equalize in the 30th minute when Bruno Fernandes scored with a powerful volley from six yards out. Bournemouth quickly responded and leveled the match five minutes later with a goal from Justin Kluivert. Just before the break, Fernandes almost scored again with a powerful strike that hit the crossbar.
In the second half, United came out strong and was awarded a penalty in the 63rd minute after Adam Smith handled the ball in the box. Fernandes confidently converted the penalty to equalize once more. Both teams pushed for a go-ahead goal, and although Bournemouth looked livelier in attack, their decision-making in the final third let them down.
