In Pretoria, South Africa, on March 17, 2024, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena expressed his focus on the next fixture, despite the possibility of an undefeated season and the team’s pursuit of a seventh consecutive league title. Mokwena believes that their past success may be affecting the players, creating a sense of never being satisfied due to the high standard they have set.

He considers this season to be his most challenging yet as both an assistant and head coach, attributing it to the lack of training and pitch time with the players. Mokwena acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining an undefeated record for an entire season and cited a dip in the confidence of some key players like Peter Shalulile, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, and Themba Zwane.

Despite this, he commended his players for their ability to stay steadfast and see the game through even in difficult moments. Mokwena emphasized that it is a phase that every team goes through, and he remains committed to supporting and complementing his players during this period.
