In the 27th minute, Wataru Endo hit the crossbar from six yards out in an attempt to level the score for the home side. Additionally, goalkeeper Dean Henderson made a remarkable save to keep out Diaz shortly after. Despite their efforts, Liverpool was unable to find an equalizer in the first half.
The second half saw Liverpool coming out aggressively, with a missed opportunity by Darwin Nunez on 55 minutes. Later, Klopp made a double change, bringing in Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota in an attempt to keep Liverpool in the title race. However, with 15 minutes left to play, Curtis Jones missed a chance to score, slipping through on goal but sending his effort wide.
Throughout the latter stages of the second half, the hosts maintained pressure in the opposition half, but were unable to break through. Palace held strong and secured a famous win, leaving Liverpool in third position in the standings.
