The DStv Premiership match between Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs took place at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Amakhosi showed attacking intentions early in the game, with Mduduzi Shabalala having a chance in the box within the first eighth minute, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Salim Magoola.

Cavin Johnson’s charges remained on the offensive, but only came close to scoring again on the half-hour mark after Du Preez created an opportunity for Saile, whose shot was saved by Magoola. However, the Glamour Boys became predictable as they played crosses into the area, which were comfortable for Magoola as Richards Bay overloaded the center of their defense.

The visitors had another chance just before the break after Du Preez broke through on goal but lacked the finishing touch, resulting in the sides going into the interval deadlocked. Overall, the game showcased moments of attacking prowess from Kaizer Chiefs but ultimately ended in a stalemate at half-time.
