Following the match, an unpleasant incident occurred when a fan of the Peoples Club became visibly enraged by the game’s outcome and physically assaulted player Abderrazak Hamdallah with a whip.
Video footage shows the player throwing water at the fan before the altercation ensued. The 25-time Morocco international, along with his Al Ittihad teammates and staff, attempted to confront the fan, but security personnel intervened and led the assailant away.
Ittihad is currently trailing by 30 points behind Al Hilal, and their chances for silverware in the Kings Cup are also at risk, as they have to face the Saudi Pro League champions-elect in the semi-finals.
