South African coach Pitso Mosimane believes he belongs in the Saudi Pro League and draws from his previous experience in the region, having worked at Al Ahli between September 2022 and June 2023, where he helped the team secure promotion to the SPL. The club has since been acquired by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, along with other prominent clubs in the league such as Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, and Al Hilal. Reflecting on the differences between the top clubs and the rest of the league, Mosimane expresses his eagerness for the challenge and his personal stake in the league, given his past success with Al Ahli.
He views the league as the most significant in the Gulf and possibly in Asia. Mosimane admits to being unaware of Al Ahli’s impending financial takeover but finds satisfaction in seeing his former players alongside renowned footballers like Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Edu Mendy. He recognizes the exceptional learning opportunity for his former players to share a dressing room with players they once only knew from television.
