AmaZulu left back Riaan Hanamub has been linked with a move to Soweto giants Orlando Pirates. He could join compatriot Deon Hotto, who plays in the same position. Both players were on opposite sides of the field as Pirates played host to AmaZulu over the weekend.
It would be interesting if Hanamub were to make a move up north of the country from KZN to play for the Soweto giants next season. Hotto, 33, feels that it would be good to have Hanamub on board. He does not feel threatened by the possibility of playing second fiddle to his Namibian national side teammate.
In fact, Hotto feels that it could allow him to play in a more advanced position, a role he is more familiar with. Hotto believes that Hanamub’s addition to the team would be beneficial. He expresses that Hanamub is an international player with the quality required to play for a big club like Pirates.
Hotto, who has played every DStv Premiership match for the Buccaneers this season, sees the potential for competition and a shift in his position if Hanamub joins the team. Both players, Hotto and Hanamub, have a good understanding of each other’s playing style as they have played together in the national team. Additionally, they both share a love for getting forward to give their side more options in attack.
