A German World Cup-winning central defender with deep African roots has expressed his interest in joining any club in the PSL that is willing to benefit from his extensive experience at the highest level. Jerome Boateng, who has played 229 matches for Bayern Munich, is considering winding up his career in South Africa. Boateng, who is 35 years old and stands at 1.90m, began his career at Hertha Berlin and also had a short stint at Manchester City. He is currently available on a free transfer.
Sources have revealed that Boateng, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 and most recently played for French Ligue 1 club Lyon, fell in love with the country during the 2010 global showpiece. Boateng’s African roots and his positive experience in South Africa has contributed to his desire to continue his career in the country.
