South Africa find themselves at the bottom of the group standings, as they are the only team without any points. This was due to Tunisia managing to hold Mali to a 1-1 draw in their recent match.
In contrast, the Brave Warriors of South Africa achieved a historic milestone by securing their first-ever victory at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). They achieved this feat by stunning the Carthage Eagles with a 1-0 win, with Deon Hotto of Orlando Pirates scoring the decisive goal in the final minutes of the game.
With three points, Collin Benjamin’s team is currently just one point behind Mali. Another victory in the upcoming matches could guarantee their place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
It is worth noting that South Africa and Namibia have previously faced each other in the 2019 Afcon group stages. In that encounter, Bafana managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over their southern neighbors, thanks to a late goal by Bongani Zungu.
Furthermore, when considering official matches, Namibia is yet to defeat South Africa.
