On April 13, 2024, AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates faced off in the Nedbank Cup, Quarter Final match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa. The match saw early chances for the Buccaneers, but their attempts were thwarted by AmaZulu’s defense and goalkeeper Veli Mothwa. After absorbing the pressure, AmaZulu’s Henrick Ekstein scored a goal from the edge of the box to break the deadlock. Orlando Pirates responded with increased tempo and eventually equalized with a well-taken penalty from Maswanganyi on the stroke of half-time, following a foul in the box on Makhehlene Makhaula by Taariq Fielies.
