Iqraam Rayners was the star of Stellenbosch FC’s victory over Polokwane City, scoring all five goals and climbing to the top of the league’s goalscoring charts with a total of 13 goals. Three of his goals were scored with his right foot and two with his left, with four of them coming in a 17-minute period during the second half. This remarkable performance drew praise from former Swallows player, Chamanga, who held the previous record of scoring five goals in a game.
Chamanga congratulated Rayners and encouraged him to continue breaking records. Chamanga also shared his own achievement, having scored 20 goals in 43 DStv Premiership matches from 2005 to 2008, after he moved to Bush Bucks from Zambian outfit, Zanaco FC. The incredible feat of Rayners’ five-goal haul was highlighted again, with the exact timing of each of his goals being emphasized in a tweet by Stellenbosch FC.
