Stellies opened the scoring after 14 minutes as Thulani Mini fired home from close range after some good work by Langelihle Phili. The lead was doubled ten minutes after the halftime break courtesy of a strike from Mervin Boji, before Mini got his second goal of the game in the 67th minute to seal a good win. The Citizens raced into a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to an own goal from Jeander Gaffoor and a strike from Shakeel April. The Urban Warriors went on to score another goal through Cee-Jay Bezuidenhout in the second half to seal the derby victory.
Goals from Siyabonga Ndebele, Thando Buthelezi and Keabetswe Ramotsei sealed the win for the home side. Simphiwe Masilela and Jabulani Mokone put the Buccaneers two goals up, before Tebogo Masemola and Mehluleli Maphumulo got the other goals in the second period. Wandile Ngema and Ashay Sewlall were on target for the visitors. With Stellenbosch beating Chiefs on Sunday, Pirates are officially out of the running for the title with two games to play.
