Mabedi recalls his difficulty in leaving the Chiefs, expressing a strong emotional connection to the team and considering it his home. The absence of the chairman during the 2006 World Cup in Germany led to communication issues, impacting Mabedi’s decision-making process. Faced with the expiry of his contract in June 2006, Mabedi declined a development coach opportunity from Chiefs as he believed he still had two years of playing left.
He chose to join Moroka Swallows, considering the proximity to his children’s school and fulfilled his goal of playing for two more years with them. Afterward, Mabedi transitioned into a coaching role, working alongside Eddie Lewis, as he pursued a new direction as a businessman.
