The Nedbank Cup Quarter Final match between TS Galaxy and Chippa United at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, South Africa on April 14, 2024, showcased a competitive game with both sides finding chances regularly in the opening exchanges. However, Chippa United’s Eva Nga broke the deadlock with a header just before half-time after a flick by Justice Chabalala.
The second stanza saw TS Galaxy frustrated with the lack of rhythm due to stoppages, prompting a double substitution by coach Sead Ramovic for fresh energy in attack. Despite their efforts, Galaxy couldn’t break down a compact Chippa defense.
In the dying minutes, Galaxy was awarded a penalty for a handball in the box, but Pogiso Sanoka’s spot-kick was well saved by Chippa’s goalkeeper. United quickly countered and won a penalty for a foul in the box, which was converted by Roscoe Pietersen, securing their place in the semi-finals.
With this result, Chippa United joined Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns in the last four of the competition.
