After four years in the Spanish capital, Hazard had his contract terminated by mutual agreement ahead of this season. He had the opportunity to resurrect his career elsewhere.
“MLS isn’t bad,” he said, mentioning a joking conversation with his former Belgium teammate Christian Benteke about joining him in Washington. Hazard expressed that he would enjoy playing with Benteke, passing him the ball, and seeing him score.
However, he added that it wasn’t just about football, as he would have to move everyone, which slowed down the process. Hazard revealed that he wasn’t fully committed to playing football anymore, admitting that if he truly wanted to continue, he would have been willing to move somewhere else, despite the logistics involved.
