The prize money winners of the 2023 AFCON have been revealed. At the start of last month, the organisation, led by president Patrice Motsepe, said the champions would earn 40% more than the winners of the previous edition. Losing finalists Nigeria have earned $4 million (R76 million) for their efforts in the Ivory Coast, according to CAF’s website, while South Africa and DR Congo’s football federations will be paid $2.5 million (R47.5 million) after being knocked out at the semi-final stage. Furthermore, losing quarter-finalists Angola, Guinea, Mali, and Morocco’s federations have claimed $1.3 million (R24.7 million) in prize money.
