The Soweto giants had an evening to forget after losing 5-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns, who were officially crowned DStv Premiership champions. Chiefs were dealt a blow in the 19th minute when defender Given Msimango was shown a straight red card for a professional foul.
“We thought he had done well, in all the moments after that, before half-time I thought he did very well,” Johnson told SuperSport. “Our back-four was very solid, except that later in the second-half they started dropping and that was the wrong thing to do because we were forcing them to go forward.
They didn’t go forward but we have to live to work another day.” The Chiefs interim coach says they have to finish in the top eight heading into the final three matches.
“We have to play for that, Chiefs have to play for that. They know we have to play for that,” he added.
“We have to get there.”
