The Parisians dominated the early exchanges, but faced a threat from BVB on counter-attacks. Brandt missed an opportunity to make it 2-0 for Dortmund in the last seven minutes, and PSG struggled to regain momentum in the closing stages. Dortmund eventually secured a narrow win, with the second leg set for next week in France.
