According to *Sky Germany*, the Reds have reached a verbal agreement with Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim to replace Klopp next season. The 39-year-old has earned enormous praise for the work he has done in his native Portugal and has long been tipped to take on a bigger job in Europe. While the report adds that “sources in Liverpool have refuted this story”, it is rumoured that a verbal deal in principle has been struck between the coach and the six-time European champions.
While he had been under contract until 2026, Klopp admitted to losing enthusiasm for his role and insisted it was time for a break from football. Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso had initially been tipped to succeed Klopp in England, but the Spaniard recently confirmed he would be continuing in his current environment. Amorim has already celebrated five pieces of silverware in his young career, including the Primeira Liga title with Sporting in 2021.
